Repurpose of Space

Scope:

As a result of the Nteractive business expanding, more office space was required. The ground floor that was previously occupied by a tenant became available. With the acquisition of the additional floor, Nteractive instructed Durabilis to repurpose the space to create a suite of meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and upholstered phone booths.

The full works consisted of, stripping out the existing area ready to receive new ceilings, sound proofed glass fronted meeting rooms, and two fully upholstered sound damped phone booths. The relocation of services within the space allowed for the addition of a kitchen.

To complete the new look, a contemporary glass entry door was installed within the lobby, new flooring laid throughout, and the communal areas receiving a new paint scheme,

This project gave the Durabilis team new and exciting challenges working with new materials to create a crisp modern look.

Durabilis launch Electrical and Maintenance Division

I am delighted to announce the launch of Durabilis Electrical and Maintenance (DEM) with Kevin Brown and Richard Weeks heading up this new enterprise.

Kevin and Richard are experienced Electrical Engineers and Contracts Managers having spent many years in the industry starting out as apprentices. We are fortunate to have them join our team and they are the perfect fit for this new service offering.

This is an exciting expansion for me and demonstrates our ambition to grow and provide a total offering to our clients.

DEM now offer commercial electrical testing, maintenance and installations plus, property maintenance services through our skilled team of tradesmen led by Kevin and Richard.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Kevin, Richard, and the wider DEM team on board.

Jen Heads West

After spending several years with Durabilis Jen Chapman is heading west to take up a new position in Bristol.

When Jen joined Durabilis she brought with her considerable construction project management skills and experience.

 As well as fulfilling her day to day role Jen shared her skills and experience by mentoring some of her Durabilis colleagues in project management processes to help build their personal skill sets and ultimately, benefit our clients.

Jen helped to expand our portfolio of clients, and then maintained and managed those new relationships throughout her tenure here.

All at Durabilis will miss her but, we wish Jen every success in her new role.

Teresa Joins the Team

We are pleased to announce that Teresa Jurd has joined our Administration team.

Teresa brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of accounts and general administration from her previous roles. She’s slotted straight in and instantly become a valued and respected member of the team.

Farewell to Joe

I’m sad to announce that after over ten years’ service, Joe Townsend has decided to pursue a new opportunity away from Durabilis.

Joe has managed and delivered many large and complex projects for Durabilis which have contributed to our success as a business during his tenure here. Joe is a larger than life character who is well known and respected by both our clients and his Durabilis colleagues.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Joe for his service, and on behalf of myself and his colleagues wish him every success for the future.

These will be large boots to fill but, Durabilis now have a vacancy for a Site Manager

John Lewis and Partners Tender Success 2019

After a rigorous selection process, I am delighted to announce that Durabilis have once again been successful in renewing our contract for the supply of Office Moves and related construction works for the John Lewis Partnership Head Office Sites. 

Maintaining the long standing relationship with the Partnership is greatly valued by Durabilis and I’d like to extend my personal thanks to our Senior Contracts Manager, Colin Marsh, who works tirelessly to ensure the Partnerships high expectations are consistently upheld.

Both Colin and I look forward to continued working with the JLP Facilities and Construction teams in the future.

IT Test and Development Room Refurbishment

Client: John Lewis Partnership
Location: Jubilee House, Bracknell
Project size: Medium
Time Scale: Six Weeks
Delivered: January 2018

Scope

Convert a former print store into an IT Test and Development centre to house a large retail enterprise IT test environment.

Removal of a fire shutter and brick up the former opening. Create new rooms within the space and create new door openings within the existing walls. Decoration to the new rooms and installation of vinyl floor. Installation of power, data and LED lighting.

Relocation and installation of Test and Development infrastructure from various locations into the new rooms creating a single consolidated Testing environment.

Durabilis Comments

A diverse project, involving a range of trades needing careful project management to ensure a smooth coexistence of the different trades to deliver within the timescales. The project also required close collaboration with the client’s IT teams to ensure the careful and precise relocation of the existing test and development equipment by the Durabilis team into the new location.

IT Operations Centre Conversion

Client: John Lewis Partnership
Location: Jubilee House, Bracknell
Project size: Medium
Time Scale: Four weeks
Delivered: March 2018

Scope

Transformation of a large room formerly housing computing infrastructure into an office space with secure access.

The project involved demolition to sections of the ceiling, walls and doorways. Installation of new doors, solid glazed partitions and suspended ceiling.

The office area was then carpeted, new office furniture installed along with video conferencing and large format display information screens.

Durabilis Comments

An opportunity for our Commercial refurbishment team to deliver a crisp new working space in partnership with our sister company Duratech for the Audio Visual installation, all delivered in a busy working building without disruption.

Directors Review 2018

Spring has truly sprung and here I am only just getting around to reflecting on 2018, an exciting and busy year for Durabilis. The Estate Management team have completed a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects from new builds to renovation, restoration, shower block refurbishments and maintenance across the estates we partner with.

The Office Refurbishment and Moves team have completed another outstanding year, continuing to expand our customer base and taking on a range of projects from multi floor restacks to, relocations and full refurbishments all whilst maintaining the quality of workmanship and customer service that Durabilis has built its reputation on.

I’m delighted for my team and I to have worked with some great new clients in 2018; Innovise, Beaulieu Estate, Specsavers and Nteractive to name a few.

I have asked the Project Management Team to showcase some examples of our achievements from last year in the form of case studies which will help illustrate the full range of services Durabilis provide. Please watch this space.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my team for their continued hard work and dedication in all that we do and of course my thanks go out to our valued clients for their support and custom throughout 2018. I look forward to working with you in 2019.

Office Dilapidations

Client: Innovise
Location: High Street, Slough
Project size: Medium
Time Scale: Two weeks
Delivered: October 2018

Scope: Following the vacation of the client from the office, the space had to be returned back to the landlord as a bare shell.

Durabilis were instructed as follows:

  • Remove all additional electrics and plumbing added by the Client.
  • Remove air conditioning units along with condensing units and all pipework.
  • Remove air handling unit.
  • Make good original fan coil air conditioning system.
  • Dismantle 5 No. Glass fronted meeting rooms and remove from site.
  • Remove any dividing fire walls.
  • Remove all window blinds
  • Repair ceiling and walls where offices have been removed.
  • Remove server cabinets along with all wiring.
  • Dismantle Comms room and remove from site.
  • Move floor boxes to facilitate open plan office set up.
  • Make good flooring with existing carpet tiles.
  • Paint walls and all door frames and skirting boards.
  • Thoroughly clean

DBL comments: During a very busy year for Durabilis we answered the call from Innovise who were vacating their existing office at the end of their lease. The office had to be returned to a bare shell in order to hand back to the landlord. Innovise had to achieve this within very short timescales and so instructed Durabilis to carry out the dilapidation work, we were able to oblige leaving a very happy customer.
